The island of Tenerife is the largest of the seven Canary Islands situated in the Atlantic Ocean off the north-western coast of Africa. It is the most populated island of the Canary Islands and Spain. Tenerife has about five million tourists on average each year which makes it one of the busiest Spanish resorts. Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital of the island and also of the autonomous community of the Canary Islands (it is shared with Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).
