Mallorca Information

Mallorca (also known as Majorca) is the largest island of Spain (3640sq km). Located in the Mediterranean Sea it is part of the Balearic Islands. The island is an extremely popular tourist destination with visitors of around 10 million every year. It’s a beautiful and exotic Spanish island that is considered to have the best party atmosphere.

There are plenty of attractions in Mallorca. There is the beautiful Mallorca Caves that feature underground lakes. The large water park resort of Aquacity if you’re feeling hot from the sun. Marineland with lots of marine life and features the biggest collection of sharks in Europe and a reptile zoo. There is lots of shopping and bars to relax in at the Placa Major which is the large 19th century square in Mallorca.

The Palma Airport is located just 8km outside of Palma de Mallorca. It is the third busiest airport in Spain and during the summer months it becomes the busiest in Spain! It is situated among the top twenty airports in Europe.

Mallorca is no exception to the rest of Spain for its fiestas. Celebrating its own traditional fiestas it does share general celebration with the rest of Spain.

The Three Kings, this is the Christmas time for the Spanish in which the local children leave their shoes outside the window with food only to find the food gone and replaced with presents in the morning.

Semana Santa (Holy Week) is the Spanish Easter time that lasts for two weeks, Mallorca celebrates with celebrations such as 'Pancaritat' and Fiesta of the Angel.

Moros y Cristianos (Moors and Christians) this festival celebrates the re-establishment of Christianity in Spain and battles are re-enacted and locals are dressed up as either the Moors or the Christians.
