Costa Del Sol Information

The Costa del Sol or “Coast of the Sun” lies in the south of Spain in the province of Malaga. It has just over an 150km stretch from Almeria to Tarifa and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain. It has many coastal towns and communities spanning along its Mediterranean coastline.

There is plenty here to keep everyone entertained. The Tivoli World Amusement Park is the biggest theme park on the Costa del Sol. Near to Tivoli World is the Benalmadena cable car that will take you all the way up to the summit of Monte Calamorro - a 15 minute journey with fantastic views. The Benalmadena Sea Life Aquarium is great for the kids with as well as Selwo Marina that has marine life from South America. Hot day in the sun? Cool off at Aqualand Torremolinos Water Park situated just 10 minutes from Torremolinos centre.

Malaga International Airport is the fourth busiest airport in Spain and boasted 13 million passengers in 2008. It has two terminals, with most passengers arriving at terminal two 90% of the time.

Numerous festivals take place around the Costa del Sol each year. Each town has its own celebrations but there are a few main ones that are more generally celebrated among the Costa del Sol.

Lent Carnival, every year many carnivals take place before Lent, the largest being the Cardiz Carnival. However, there are many others with costumes, dancing, food and parades.

Seville Spring Fair, this fiesta is a huge celebration held two weeks after Easter each year. There are costumes, music, singing, dancing and more! The partying can usually continue in to the early hours of the morning throughout the entire duration of the event.
